This is an auction for a section of souvenier WWI german airplane fabric, presumably from a downed Fokker D-7 airplane.
DESCRIPTION: This display relic was purchased from an a large ANTIQUE co-op in Central PA. I have NO provedance, nor have I spent the money to chemically test the items. They look original, but since I am NO expert on the subject, I am selling this as a display piece, as is, all sales final...I will try to described as best as I can. Please ask questions before close of sale..
The fabric is somewhat rectangle in shape and size, 9 1/4" X 7 1/4", with a corner missing from fray. Material is about 55-65 count fabric and somewhat transparent when held up to the light. Fabric canvas is dry and was probably stored in a hot attic too long. I shows signs(crease marks and abrasions) from being folded(a common GI practice to store souvenier items in the field). It has three (3) colors present in tips (angles) of the 5 sided shaped camo pattern. A blue, purple, and green. Surface color is slightly worn or faded. The stiffness is from the doping and or age.W the colors overlap, it forms a darker line, but it is not outlined( this is from the printed silkscreen technique used by German fabric printers
