Up for auction is this unusual German regimental photo from the World War I era. It measures 16"x19 3/4" and is mounted on a hard cardboard that is decorated with pillars, garland, bugles, guns, drums, etc. The photo size itself is 11 1/2" x 15 1/2". It is marked in 2 places "Theo Ratzky, photographers, Ostrowo 1911. It features the German soldiers in various poses (some with spiked helmets). It is all in German so I will pick out some phrases which may help you identify the photo. Written on the tent at top is "Reserveder 4 Reg. 155 or (755)" and a couple words I can't make out. On two of the flag banners it reads "Parole Helmat" and "Reserve hat Ruhl". On the bottom in an emblem it says "Es Lebe Reserve 1911". At the top of photo in the background is a train station on one side, a closeup of a large building on right and a large city in the background. Many soldiers are smoking and holding beer glasses and many have musical instruments such as drums, bugles, accordions, two are in a tent, 2 have bicycles, some have flags and most have rifles. T are sayings scattered thruout the picture. Condition of the photo itself is very good. Clear with one very small crinkle in right corner top in the large building.
