Up for bids is this rare original WWI Turkish Officer sword and scabbard with original hangers and knot. The single edged unsharpened blade is 28-1/2" in length. Overall length in scabbard is 35". The plated blade is tripled etched, depicting the Ottoman star and crescent, along with stand of arms and scroll work. The plating shows wear and flaking, creating dark areas, especially in the etched portions. The maker mark on the blade is under the langet and it depicts a man swinging a large hammer over his head. I believe this mark is that of the famous German cutler E. Pack & Sohn of Solingen, Germany. The spine is marked: "KIRKOAM.NARLIAN & FRERES, CONSTANTINOPOL"(now Istanbul), a distributor or retailer. The hand guard and back-strap are of brass. The solid grip is grooved wood with twisted wire wrap which is a bit loose but all there. The grip is tight to the blade. The bullion knot shows wear. The scabbard appears to be made from German silver. The drag and the scabbard bands are etched with leaf designs. Scabbard has several extremely shallow dents in it and comes with original hangers which are in good condition. Turkey was an allie of Germany in WWI. This is a hard to find sword. Will ship to US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand. Will ship via USPS Priority Mail to states and USPS Priority Mail Express International outside
