WW I 1917 COMMITTEE IMPERIAL JAPANESE WELCOME COMMISSION BADGE

This medal was part of my Japanese militaria collection which I started 40 years ago before I retired from the Marine Corps and am now liquidating.

In the interest of time and overwhelming interest, my daughter is listing photos and dimensions of many items so we can post as many as quickly as possible. If time allows, descriptions will be added -- this is a a Committee badge established during September 1917 "TO HONOR AND WELCOME THE IMPERIAL JAPANESE COMMISSION" ( as engraved on the reverse). The obverse is engraved "TO MAKE THE WORLD SAFE FOR DEMOCRACY * WE ARE ONE *". This medal is suspended by a gold ring and and cream and red striped ribbon which is a bit frayed but in otherwise excellent condition. I have been unsuccessful in finding any additional information about this very intriguing, very heavy gold metal badge.

It measures 4 inches in diameter by approximately 1 5/8 inches ribbon width. A clear plastic protective pouch comes with this badge. No reserve.
