ORIGINAL WWII 36th ENGINEER COMBAT REGIMENT PATCH
You are bidding on an original, French made 36th Engineer Combat Regiment patch, that is fully embroidered with a wave pattern weave. The 36th was assigned to the Atlantic Amphibious Corps and landed in French Morocco in 1942. The 36th then participated in the invasion of Sicily, Italy, Anzio, Southern France, and Germany. Amongst other things, the 36th fought as infantry, built bridges, managed ports, cleared beaches, and supervised the movement of supplies. The regiment was credited with 5 amphibious assualts and 10 campaigns. The patch was worn on the pocket, and was an unofficial design authorized for local wear.
The p atch came from a small collection of some real nice pieces that I recently acquired from a guy who has been collecting for 30 years. I will be listing all of these pieces over the next few weeks Patch has some /paper glue spots on the back from being on a poster board. To date, all the patches from this collection have been authentic. Patch is cut edge with kaiki trim and heavy white "snow" on the back. Patch does not glow under black/UV light. See photos.
