Fixed bale/front seam WWII helmet and liner - professionally repainted with the 29th Division logo and Sgt bars - just like the originals. Used by reenactor. This helmet looks like the real thing! Beautiful logo. I had found a photo of a pre-Invasion 29'er with his gear and noticed that he had painted his liner and put the 29th logo on it as well as the helmet - so I had it done. Includes netting, which is torn, but I liked it as it looks more realistic. The liner webbing/leather shows a little wear but it's still intact. Nice item for the reenactor or collector.Below is a picture of two other originals:/images/brest29a.jpgNOTE: These are not for sale - just showing you that the reproduction closely approximates a real ones. Also, this one dug up in france is actually the helmet liner and you can see it's also painted:/images/29a_5.jpgSome history: All 29th Infantry Division soldiers were required to paint their division insignia on the front of their helmets. All units participating in D-Day used a simple system of white bars toidentify officers and non-commissioned officers. Officers wore a whitevertical bar on the backs of their helmets, and non-commissioned officers wore a white horizontal bar. (The exact position of this bar often varied from soldier to soldier).
