Really interesting old knife , made by and marked "Cloverbrand" of Syracuse, N.Y., USA. On reverse ricasso is marked "Patented / US PATOFF". From its appearance and the details on this knife I'd say it was made around the Second World War or before. Whether it was made for the Signal Corps US ARMY or Marine Corps signal personnel, or just for Boy Scouts, is hard to tell, but it was for sure one of these groups. My guess is that it was made for military personnel. At any rate, as can be seen in the pictures below, this is a very unique knife, only one like this I've seen in years of collecting. The handle scales have signalmen on one side illustrating the dot and dash marks, and on the reverse t is the entire morse code! Has the typical 4-blade jack configuration with main blade cutter, punch, screw-driver/bottle opener, and can opener. Handle scales are made of plastic apparently, show some use, but NO abuse. Blades are tight, no wiggle or play, bolsters are strong and the knife "walks and talks". Main blade shows little sharpening, some staining as it is carbon steel. Other blades are in good shape as well, in another unusual feature the can opener is marked "Can Opener". Measures 3 5/8" long and main blade is 2 3/4" long. High bidder pays shipping.
