Up for auction is a WW2 era USAAF 3" clutch back senior pilot wings. The wings are unmarked , but have the "snow flake" pattern on its back. According to the Book "Silver Wings, Pinks and Greens" by Jon A. Maguire this pattern is generally thought to have been used on wings and insignia prior to WWII and were worn by many early WWII flyers. The piece is unmarked, but is in good shape overall with some very slight bending and wear to the top of the clutch posts due to its age and use. The wings design are the very collector desirable "finely featd" pattern with alot of detail. I obtained these from the estate of a former USAAF/USAF officer who served from prior to WWII to the Vietnam era. His estate contained many USAAF and USAF collectibles.
