ALOT OF NEW & VINTAGE STERLING SILVER & VINTAGE ESTATE JEWELRY BEING ADDED DAILY * WE DON'T POLISH/CLEAN ANY JEWELRY; ORIGINAL PATINA ON MOST ITEMS - SOME STERLING MAY NEED A GOOD POLISH This is a vintage sterling silver RARE Designer CARLOS DIAZ TREE, ELM ? TREE, TREE OF LIFE pendant charm . It has a soldered O-ring and is Hallmarked/Signed "Carlos Diaz & Sterling" on the back of it, it also has the date of 10/31/77 scratched on the back of it but it's hard to see unless held under a light at an angle. WEIGHS 3 GRAMS, his jewelry is almost never found and extremely rare & hard to find! Carlos Diaz , born in Bogotá , Columbia fell in love with his craft at an early age. At 14 , Carlos became the apprentice of his uncle who was a silversmith. Later, Carlos learned the art of repousse and chasing from a Parisian Master silversmith named Gaston Avenel. At 23, Carlos worked in Ecuador for a few years making chalices for the church and hollowware for the embassy. In 1953 Carlos came to Tucson and began piecework for other jewelers. By 1958 Carlos had opened his own business and a few years later had become incorporated. In 1978 , Carlos graduated from the Gemological Institute of America and holds a degree in gemology.
