Zia Kachina Dancers Olla - Large Marcellus & Elizabeth Medina

A-OK ARTIQUES is very proud to offer a fantastic example of the Kachina Zia Dancer Olla by the award winning husband and wife team Marcellus & Elizabeth Medina. This large Olla is 6 1/2" h X 6" w. This stunning pottery is too beautiful for words. It is dated 1985 but looks "brand new". It even feels good just to hold it; it is so smooth. The three Dancers are very detailed and are amazing. T are, also, symbols that we think might be clouds and rain. This incredible piece was created in the "old" ways.

First the clay is dug up from a secret spot on the Pueblo. The clay is hand coiled, fired (outside), sanded and stone polished. Elizabeth makes the pots which are then hand-painted by her husband Marcellus. When they first created these pots they created a sensation! At this time, this type of pot by them is getting very hard to find. These sell for $2,200 - $2,600 in important Native American Art Galleries. Both Marcellus & Elizabeth have won many awards at the Santa Fe Indian Markets, as well as, at the New Mexico State Fairs. They are in most books on Indian Pottery.
