Furniture mouldings, full size sections of moulded details on English furniture from 1574 to 1820

IN the course of many years spent in studying, designing, and preparing drawings for the manufacture of English furniture, I have always been struck with the lack of books of measured drawings of mouldings taken from authentic pieces of old English cabinet work. In presenting this volume, I have endeavoured to overcome, in a small way, this deficiency. The subject being so vast, it is impossible to deal adequately with it in the limited space of one volume; but in taking representative specimens from each period, I have endeavoured to make the outline as complete as possible. To enable one to trace rapidly any given piece of furniture, I have thought it advisable to group the drawings according to type instead of period.
