Graniteware has been called many names. Enamelware, enameled ware, procelain and porcelainware are just a few. Granite cookware was introduced by the Lalance and Grosjean Manufacturing Company in Paris in 1878. The bright bold colors and attractive swirls and shades of the many patterns of granite ware were welcomed by housewives tired of the drab metallic colors of contemporary cooking utensils.
