Many button collectors, including myself, have had this very conversation. Be it your family pet, your love of gardening, or your appreciation of history and the fine arts, Egyptian, Oriental, and Indian culture, stories, sports, and mythology even a non-collector can relate to buttons in some form or fashion. That is their appeal to so many people. The purpose of this book is to give general information on the different materials and the broad range of subjects they covered. The prices are what I consider to be realistic, based on what I have paid and considerable discussion with other collectors. It must be said that it does not mean that the identical button has not been recently sold for more or less.
