In 1976, barely one year out of the service and very ignorant of the printing and publishing business, I was suddenly thrust out of my comfortable office chair and into the car as a traveling salesman for the family printing business. My territory was described to me as "running the river," which meant that I was to cover all the Ohio River Valley from Pittsburgh to Ashland, Kentucky.
