Skipper Barbie Doll’s Little Sister Identification and Value Guide

Mattel's fashion doll, Barbie®, was one of the most successful toy lines in history when Skipper®, her little sister, was introduced in 1964. Barbie's® world of sock hops, soda shops, and fashion modeling was intimidating and foreign to many young chi ldren. Mattel created Skipper® not only to expand Barbie's® world (and increase sales), but also to include the younger child who did not play with Barbie® because the dol l was too grown up. Here was a doll-sized version of a girl who still loved to skip rope, hold tea parties, and take her doll on outings.
