Madame Beatrice Alexander was born on March 9, 1895, in Brooklyn, New York. Her father, Maurice Alexander, owned the fi rst doll hospital in America. Maurice repaired antiques and resto red porcelain and bisque dolls. Young Beatrice became aware of the pain experienced by a child when their favorite doll was broken.
