In the 1950s, as a child from a dysfunctional family, I had two personal sources of strength and comfort. My Terri Lee doll was my best friend and understood what went on in my family. Girl Scouts was my guide to life. I still try to live by the promise and the laws. I learned the basics of my moral character from Scouting and feel every girl should have a chance to be a Scout. I have been a Brownie, a Junior Scout, a Senior Scout, and a Scout Leader and am proud to be a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of America. This book has been a ten-year labor of love, in tribute to this organization.
