American Pattern Glass Table Sets

As with any book, there are issues to address here. The presentation of the glassware herein is a bit unusual in this day and time. We're accustomed to viewing entire settings of glassware. However, in the time frame that this glass represents, it was a common occurrence to have a table set offered, sometimes that being all that was available in that particular design. A "table set" generally consisted of a butter dish and lid, a sugar bowl with lid, a creamer, and a piece called a spooner or spoon holder, which was just that, a dish to hold spoons. It was generally less wide (less than four inches in diameter) than the sugar bowl, had no lid, but might exhibit a top rim with a decorative design (scalloped rim). (There are collectors who concentrate their efforts on spooners alone.)
