Encyclopedia of Cobalt Glass Identifications & Values

Cobalt glass has been around for thousands of years. Glass containing cobalt has been discovered from the Babylonian -Assyrian period, the Mycenaean era, and the Roman Empire. A speciman of glass containing cobalt was found in Tut-Ankh-Amen's tomb from circa 1321 BC. These earliest examples of glass containing cobalt were probably the result of ancient glass workers acquiring ingredients with cobalt in it by chance. Sometime between 1100 AD and 1400 AD cobalt was used to color the glass in church windows.
