Collecting Glass Research, Reprints and Reviews Volume 1

Welcome to the world of collecting glass. I wrote words very similar to this two years ago as I introduced the quarterly research magazine The Glass Collector in January 1981. My reasons for starting such an ambitious project were explained clearly in the Premiere issue and GC2, but for reasons both personal and professional, the concept of putting all this exciting research data in book form seemed to be a more realistic concept. Some may firrl my position enviable. You might call me a "glass historian". The collector of glass is unquestionably a historian as well, as he or she "preserves" the highly vulnerable glass in a collection for future generations of other potential collectors. My job is to find the data necessary for all collectors to increase their knowledge and enjoyment.
