Folio, 19th-century vellum, modern paste-downs. 195 (of 196) leaves; lacking initial blank. Sheet size 286 x 200 mm; text size 195 x 122 mm. Rubicated throughout with initials & paragraph marks in red. `In this second edition of the Filelfo-Lapini commentaries, the printers established a form followed in all later editions of separating the portions of text in rectangular spaces, the commentary filling the remainder of the page.` Fiske Petrarch Collection. In this copy, on leaves k1a & k2a, the portions of Petrarch`s text are printed some way down the page, the catch-words on the register on folio 196a correspond with Petrarch`s text. There are approx. 20 small worm holes in the margins of leaves a2 & a3 & approx. 7 worm holes in the text of a2 - affecting only a few letters, some dust soiling & marginal dampstaining to leaves a4-b8 - negligible affect to text, negligible worming to several following signatures, signatures a & b on tabs, signature k mistakenly bound before signature I, paper repair to lower margin on K3 extending into text with attendant glue stain, repair to lower margin of K7; occasional minor dampstaining & light foxing to a few fore-edge margins, other occasional minor dampstaining, read more
