10" Brown Wool Jointed Teddy Bear Straw StuffedThis is a very unusual and very cute 10" brown woolen teddy bear that was probably made around 1910 - 1920. He is fully jointed with metal rivits at the shoulders and hips. He is straw stuffed. He has shoe button eyes. The original pads were a brown felt. One arm and one foot has the original pad, but there is a hole in the foot and the pad is mostly missing on the arm. The other arm and foot have had the pads replaced with a brown cotton. The neck has been sewn in place, but you can see that it was originally jointed. This bear is unusual and early. He is presently dressed in a cute Beefeater Outfit which is newish, but fits him perectly. I have seen dolls that were made with this same brown wool body and a brown woolen hood over the face, around the time snow babies were made. Some of the faces were bisque and other celluloid. This teddy bear was probably from that same era.The outfit has a white accordian pleated collar and has a bright yellow crown on the front with yellow and black stripe braiding on either side of the crown and also on the sleeves. The yellow shows white in my pictures that show the full top. I have taken some close ups of the crown and braid that show the correct shade of yellow.
