Up for auction is lot of 10 different postcards featuring loggers, lumberjacks, big trees, and lumbermen in action, early 1900s. 4 of the cards are postally used, cancelled 1908, 1909 and 1910, the other 6 are not used. The cards show men with a vintage handsaw cutting logs in the snow, a lumberjack onsite operation in Washington (check out the equipment), a huge log with a lumberjack leaning against it near Santa Cruz CA, a huge raft of logs (80,000,000 feet of lumber according to the caption), a team of oxen pulling huge logs, a group of loggers cutting redwoods near Eureka CA, men posing next to a giant cedar tree, an old timer with long handled axe risking his life in a wedged out Redwood in the Big Tree Grove near Santa Cruz CA, two lumbermen posing next to a giant fire tree with longhandled axes in the cut, and part of a huge log (titled Big Stick in the card caption) with nifty ladder and loggers taking a break. In overall good condition, no significant creases, no tears, some minor rubs on corners. The card showing the loggers and machinery in photo 1 has some torn paper remnants on the address side but the image on the face is not impacted. Buyer pays $1.95 shipping and handling in the US.
