10" MEXICAN POTTERY PLATE TLAQUEPAQUE ART HANDPAINTED LUCANO FAMILY PETATILLO From an estate, this is a BALBINO LUCANO FAMILY of TONALA, JALISCO pottery piece , marked with "HECHO EN INDEPENDENCIA 131, TLAQUEPAQUE, JAL" (see photos). T his plate is a fine example of his workmanship with the petatillo background, which is a cross-hatching that resembles a straw mat or "petate", for which Balbino Lucano is known. The plate has lots of flowers, birds and a deer surrounding a cathedral. The earthtone colors are still bright, hard to photograph because of the glaze. The condition is good but with the usual wear/chiggers from a plate this age. Judge for yourself from the photos. Please email with any questions. Selling only to the continental United States. I have other Lucano Family pottery items coming up for auction and will combine shipping.
