Aloha and Greetings! We present a 92.5% pure Sterling Silver Coin from the Great American Places series created by the Westport Collector's Society of Westport Connecticut. This series was minted throughout the 1970's and originally marketed as a set, along with matching stamps (this auction is for the silver coin only). This particular installment of the series celebrates the exitic Hawaiian Islands! The obverse shows a large Tiki Mask, surrounded by Hawaiian flora and the image of Diamond Head in the background. Across the top is boldy printed, "HAWAII" Along the outside edge of the coin is stamped "STERLING" with 4 minter's marks alongside. The obverse shows the Hawaiian islands and lists the coin as #2 in the Great American Places series. The obverse is in superb condition, with no visible tarnishing and is bright and lustrous, with no visible wear. The reverse, while showing no wear, does have significant tarnishing (where air has seeped into the coin-holder over time), otherwise in clean, unmarked, presentable condition. Low Starting Price and No Reserve! Additionally, I personally weighed this coin on a digital scale. The actual weight is 1.10 oz., making for a full ounce of silver (Sterling silver is 92.5 pure silver [.925 purity], with the remainder of the weight comprising other metals, usually copper).
