TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EMILY'S BUTTON BLOWOUT!! THESE RETAIL FOR 4.00 TO 6.00 EACH. Soooooo lovely in person. This listing is for one lot of 12 NEW handmade Czech art glass buttons in the ever popular foil back lacy finish with gold hand painted detail on the top to add extra depth. Such pretty texture and detail. The glass is clear and the color comes from the coating on the back. They have peachy and blue highlights depending on which way the light hits them. They are flat buttons measuring 1 1/16 inch with 4 way box shanks. All my Czech glass buttons come directly from the factory w they are made to order. They have not been previously handled. This is a new generation of very high quality handmade glass buttons. The technology used to create some of these finishes simply did not exist in the 20's, 30's 40's or 50's. The hand pressing techniques however, have not changed in over 200 years. Each button is pressed in what looks like a long-handled pair of pliers. The end of the pliers hold the design mold. Each shank has to be added at just the right moment while the glass is still very hot. Glass shank buttons are pressed slightly differently. After they cool in a special oven, the edge of each button is finished by hand; meaning each is ground smooth on a diamond wheel. After that they are either decorated (painted) by hand or finishes
