12 PC CHINA DISHES CZECH MZ ALTROHLAU NAPOLEONIC LADIES is an interesting set of china dishes comprised of 4 bread and butter sized plates, 3 saucers and 5 teacups. These dishes are all marked "MZ Altrohlau CMR Czechoslovakia and " La Porcelaine de luxe ,Kassab Brothers". All pieces are made from white porcelain that is as fine as china; the tops are glazed in a pale green fading to lighter in the center. The edges are bordered in a swaged design in a delicate green floral and leaf design with an alternating wreath like arrangement. Each piece is rimmed in a narrow band of gold. The main items of interest are the 4 bread and butter sized plates, each which measures 6" in diameter. Each of these plates is different, one has a portrait of Josephine - first wife of Napoleon, another Marie Louise - second wife of napoleon; the third, Madame Recamier - a hostess of renown during Napoleon's time and the fourth: Hortense who I believe was the daughter of Josephine and Queen of Holland. (I can't swear to the accuracy of this information but the names are correct.) Each plate is in very nice condition, two have a bit of wear to the gold rim. The other pieces - 5 cups and 3 saucers are in various states of wear - The 5 cups have the portrait of 3 different unnamed ladies on the front- 3 are the same. None have any cracks or nicks but all read more
