Another fine lot from the Flying.Ant ! =============================================================================================== This auction is for an original issue of "The Illustrated Exhibitor". It was a journal published weekly from June 1851 totally devoted to the exhibits at "The Great Exhibition of The Industry of All Nations" at Crystal Palace in 1851. Cost 2d. Contains SHEFFIELD's Contribution to the World Fair, 10 pages inc 16 engravings - one is full page of the Sheffield Court from a Daguerreotype by Fehrenbach - others include CUTLERY, FIRE GRATE, FENDER, STOVE, SKATE, a superb series of 6 on the STEEL manufacturing process. A full page engraving of the famous 5th Aug 1851 Teetotal demonstation for Total Abstinence. Items from the Ladies Dept inc 6 engravings - eg Beetle-Wing Dress, Parasol, Sleeve Trimming etc. Cranes used in the construction of the Crystal Palace. 10 x 6.5 inches. 20 pages. It contains much detail & some really excellent engravings. Each issue concentrated on different aspects which I have listed in the title. Despite being 150 years old having been bound loosely into a book it is still in very nice unfolded condition (& will be dispatched in a board back envelope - any quantity will be sent for just one payment of P&P). ============================================================= read more
