Hello I am going to sell tubes from a flat of New Old Stock Unused. Bulk Packed nixies , in this auction. This auction is for a quantity of 12 NL5440A Nixie tubes. These are the rare smooth top variety. Digits are .610 tall and have unique 2s and 5s unlike many of the Russian tubes. These tubes also have the very fine dark mesh so you can easily see the internal construction of the tubes. Much nicer than the Russian tubes in my opinion. Richardson Electronics, a large tube seller cleared out its inventory of these nixie tubes. I purchased a quantity of nixies in flats as shown in the pictures. These are New old stock tubes that are unmarked. Richardson as a wholesaler would mark these tubes with the brand of the end users. I found some of my tubes from the same purchase marked National and others that were marked Wang Labs. The tubes in this auction are unmarked. These NL5440A's came with the test cards from when they were packed. They were tested in 1989. I retested all the tubes I bought and found a small percentage had gone bad and would no longer light. It would seem that a few tubes had small seal leaks, 20+ years weeded all of these out. I looked at all of these tubes and never saw a crack in any of the bad ones. So leakers can be hard to spot. You will get fully tested tubes that all light properly. I will include a copy of the test card if requested. You can find a lot of great information on nixies at Sphere Research Corp on the internet. They have sockets for these tubes and a lot of other information. They also sell these tubes.
