Matching pair of bisque porcelain figurines. Glazed and unglazed. Both figurines are playing musical instuments. He plays the rounded back guitar and she plays the tamboureen. I am not sure of who made these fine figurines. They look German, yet Italian, and also they look Russian....I can tell you that the craftsmanship and fine exquisite detail are SUPERB! Both figurines have a darker outline to eyes and around the noses. The man is smiling and showing his teeth as well as the woman. She wears gold bangled bracelets on each arm, and a beaded necklace. Almost a Gypsy type look for the most part. Her blouse is a light pastel bisque blue with darker outlines to enhance the definition. She wears a scarf that ties in the back, and a cloth that wraps around and ties in the front. Her waist band is a brownish mauve color while her skirt is a beautiful lavender. SHe has flat heeled shoes which are a light off white/ greyish color and she stands on a round brick type platform. She is numbered 4538 on the bottom. The man wears a ruffled looking neck color and a pastel green shirt. He has a mauve colored vest on with a gold belt buckle in the front. His vest reminds me of the clothing that the 3 musketeers wore. Pastel green colored knicker pants. He has a lavender bow above his knee high socks on each leg. Hisnumber on the bottom is 4539. read more
