For your sterling flatware collection: Two sets of 800 sterling soup spoons, total 14 spoons. The set of 8 are stamped 800 fine sterling made by RUPP a Jeweler from Ansbach, Germany, in their original presentation case. The case is well worn but fully functional as the clasps and hinges are solid. The set of 6 are stamped EGERSDORFER NURNBERG 800 (from Germany) no case. The set of 8 are slightly more formal in appearance than the set of 6. I would call the set of 8 a special occasion set and the set of 6 an every day set. All 14 spoons are in perfect condition, no dents, no scratches, no repairs, no problems whatsoever. They have the fine patina of age and show the care given them over the decades. Brought to America in the late 1930's and carefully stored. Judging by the hallmarks on the set of six, they were made well before the 1930's probably around 1895. Please see the close up photos for the hallmarks which I have been told, by an appraiser, are quite distinctive. Because these are hand made, their individual weight varies slightly from 40 grams to 45 grams each or about 1.3 to 1.50 ounces. Total gram weight is 560, total ounce weight is 18.5 (over one pound of sterling). I have set a starting price at $200 which is under the melt value based on 18.5 ounces at $13 per ounce less 20% because they are 800 which is 20% less than the purest silver. They are, of course, worth much more than melt value. Shipping is free and they will be fully insured, and double boxed to ensure safe arrival at your home, within the United States. Foreign shipping will have to be calculatedThank you for considering this auction.
