This is a very large, well defined, quality fossil consisting of two delicate and highly detailed fossil leafs Dawn Redwood "Metasequoia" of the Oligocene ( 34-23 Mya.), from The Muddy Creek Formation in Beaver Head County, Montana. This very lengthy leaf exhibits sharp detail and contrasts beautifully against the lovely, light brown hues of the robust, Shale matrix. The shape of the leaf is full and intact and prominently displayed. The is also a detailed baby Redwood leaf near the base of the long leaf. If you want a impressive, quality Dawn Redwood leaf to add that something special to your collection this is it. The overall sizes are 141mm x 94mm x 22mm with the leaf (with stem) being 123mm as measured around the curve and the baby is 10mm.
