There is a center oval cut Natural Russian Alexandrite measuring 5.5x3.75mm(.33cts)that is Type II clarity VVS. There are 12 surrounding tiny round cut accenting Diamonds. The very rare Natural Alexandrite since its discovery in Russia in 1831 has been considered one of the most treasured and valuable gemstones. The amazing Natural Alexandrite is the variety of Chrysoberyl that displays a color change. The color changing Alexandrite was discovered on April 23, 1830 in Russia and named in honor of Czarevitch Alexander Nicolajevitch who would become Czar in 1855 and would reign from 1855-1881. At that time all people even including the Royals used torchlight, candlelight and open fireplaces as there was no electricity at this time. To make this amazing gemstone even more popular, the Alexandrite's colors of red and green were Russia's National Military Colors.
