Lucky frog!Absolutely beautiful vintage 1970's carved jade frog with gold coin in mouth, in 14kt solid yellow gold.'Peas in snow' jade, carved to perfection in the centuries old string and water technique in the shape of a frog. The frog holds a 14kt gold coin in its mouth. Asian tradition is that the jade frog will bring you luck. The coin in the frogs mouth symbolizes wealth, so essentially this ring is said to bring one good luck in financial matters. I don't know much more about the legends, but I do know jewelry and this is a wonderful vintage piece that looks to be in nearly new condition. The jade is beautiful, primarily a light green with areas of whiter jade throughout the sculpture. No damage to the jade that I can see, and the gold is lightly scratched here and there, as one would expect on a piece nearly 50 years old. The band on this piece is substantial, beautiful and quite decorative, with dashes in the gold as well as what look to be clover shaped cut~ outs. Fantastic vintage piece! [The low starting bid is a steal for one of these highly coveted, collectible jade treasures. The detail of the frog, the tiny gold coin, the one~ of~a kind band...it's perfect! ]
