15 Antique Apothecary-Medicine-Dental Glass Bottles-Tin

This listing is for 15 very old bottles or tins that held a variety of powders and liquids used by a dentist or were used in the cleaning, polishing or caring for the teeth or mouth. Some of these containers still have some of their contents or residue. These are being sold only as vintage collectables, not for use. There is a nice variety of bottles, some with nice raised glass lettering, some with nice glass stoppers and some with vintage paper labels. Most items in this lot are in good vintage condition. There are a few small chips in some and some light damage on paper labels, but overall containers are pretty good. I have provided numerous photos for viewing and a description of containers is below. Included in this lot are the following items: 1. Zhongiva bottle, John H. Wood Company Philadelphia, For Gums & Wisdom Teeth, has neck label and body label and raised glass lettering in rear. This bottle also has a crown type glass stopper. Bottle is 4 ¾” high and marked 5 Fluid Ozs.2. Sanitol bottle which is marked Sanitol on one side and For The Teeth on the other side. Bottle appears to be a 6” high white milk glass bottle with crown type white milk glass stopper. 3. Two bottles 2 ½” high, clear glass with clear glass stoppers. Both bottles marked in raised glass lettering as follows: De Trey’s Synthetic Porcelain Mfd. By The L.D. Caulk Company. Also on stoppers in raised lettering is marked Caulk. On bottom of bottles is a raised number 89. 4. Two unmarked brown glass bottles with brown glass stoppers. One bottle is 3 ½” high and dark brown in color (this bottle has the raised number 138 on base). The second bottle is 4 ¼” high and medium brown in color. 5. Clear glass bottle 3 ½” high with cork stopper. Has paper label on front marked Doctor Pierre Of The Paris Facility Of Medicine - Tooth Powder - Email - American Taste. This label also has a small American flag with 42 stars. Rear of bottle has a raised glass logo and the markings EAU DENTIFRICE DU DOCTEUR PIERRE. 6. Clear glass bottle with paper label on neck that is marked Llewellyn and a second paper label on body marked Llewellyn’s Soluble Dentifrice For Cleansing Preserving and Beautifying The Teeth - Prepared By Llewellyn Apothecary 1410 Chestnut Street Philadelphia. This bottle is 4” high and has a cork stopper and rear of bottle has Llewellyn in raised glass lettering. Base of bottle has W T Co - 902 - USA in raised glass lettering. 7. Clear glass bottle with cork stopper, 4” high with paper label. Label marked as follows: SAMPLE Zhongiva - James J Ottinger Manufacturer 20 th and Spruce Streets Phila. 8. Clear glass bottle with cork stopper and paper label, bottle is 4 ¼” high. Paper label is marked Physicians’ Sample Glyco - Thymoline - An Alkaline Antiseptic Deodorizing and Non-Irritating Solution - Prepared By Kress & Owen Company 210 Fulton Street New York. In raised glass lettering at top of bottle front is the following marking: Kress & Owen Co. New York, on top of bottle rear is the following marking: Glyco - Thymoline.9. Clear glass bottle 4” high with a double screw-off lid (both a large and small lid that screws off). Has paper label marked as follows: DENTIFRICE, This celebrated Dentifrice is prepared by Dr. A. Herr - No. 17 N. Ninth Street. This Powder is Anti-scorbutic, will harden the enamel and gums and disenfect an offensive breath. Price -- 25 Cts. Cleanliness is essential to the preservation of teeth. Dental operations will avail but little if this is neglected. 10. White milk glass jar, 3” high with white milk glass lift off lid. Has paper label on front marked Caulk Dental Polish - The L. D. Caulk Co. There is a paper label with what looks like a lion on lid and a paper label on back of jar with instruction. 11. Brown glass bottle 4 ¾” high with black bakelite or plastic screw on lid and paper label. Label is marked Solution Hydrogen Peroxide, Distributed By M.W. Bamford Inc., Apothecaries 8 South 5 th Street Reading, PA. Bottom of bottle marked...
