Found near the City of BAALBA,Lebanon ,w Romans biggest temple is found in the middle east. Ovoidbody, tapering at top, tubular neck with spiral design, unpolished anduncleaned lip, 2 rat tail handles and feather trailed motif.White colored glass with blue underneath surface. This piece has been found in its original condition ,no restoration was done. These pieces were used to store medicine, poison, rare liquids of any kind like Perfum,cosmetic products and for some people they were used as decorative pieces in homes. BAALBAK Baal- Bek Lebanon stands as one of the most perplexing and intriguing places on the earth. Situated on a hill surrounded by the modern city of the same name with a population of more than 50,000, it lies just 86 miles north of Beirut. Once called "Heliopolis" meaning 'city of the sun' (a name it shared with a city in Egypt), Baal- Bek has enjoyed the distinction of attracting the most powerful men of the ancient world including many of the Ceasars (who were themselves of Syrian birth),Alexander the Great, and the Ptolemies, Pharoahs of Egypt. Even Solomon is suspected of having built a house for one of his wives (Pharoah's daughter)at this site.(I kings 9:18) The name itself has been interpreted as deriving from a number of ancient terms, the most common is 'The City of Baal' in reference to the god of the Phoenicians and the same 'false' god mentioned prominently in the Old Testament. Drawing from the translation of the term 'baal' which means 'lord' or, by application, 'god' other possible names would be 'God of the Beka Valley' or 'God of the Town'. However one pursues the etymology of the name, the site itself has been seen as sacred since the dawn of recorded human civilization. And for good reason. During the Roman era Baal-Bek was chosen for the temple of Jupiter , the largest temple of the Roman world, as well as the temple of Bacchus which is the most complete Roman temple known today. But long before the Roman and the Greek empires Baal-Bek stood as an ancient city site believed by some to be 'the' oldest city in the world due to the presence of the 'Trilithon'. They are three impossibly massive stones of over 60 feet in height, 14 feet across,and 10 feet in depth. They each weight in excess of 100,000 tons and are the largest stone constructions on earth representing a le vel of technology impossible to duplicate even with modern methods and equipment. The great porch of the 2nd century Temple of Jupiter (Zeus)is supported in large part by these three wind-and-sand-damaged stones. They defy explanation from any engineering perspective being too large to be practical for ancient Roman transportation and construction methods. No evidence of runway building has ever been detected in the area and conservative estimates of 40,000 slaves working in unison to move such a stone over a level, flat plain is beyond all practicality. With the ancient site being situated on a hill further exacerbates the argument against Roman engineering. In fact neither science nor archeology can offer any explanation and no eye-witness accounts survive from antiquity. Enter Sanchoniathos, an ancient historian writing prior to the onset of the Trojan War in 1200 B.C.. Phoenician by birth, Sanchoniathos wrote about the history, beliefs, and unusual places of his homeland drawing from resources available at his time within his own world and culture. The work survies in part to day thanks to the writings of Eusebus who copied earlier translations at the beginning of the Common Era (A.D.).
