Up for bid is a very rare 15th century wafer iron for making communion wafers. Decorated with floral patterns and gothic cross, on one side has inscription IHS CI IC. (Iesus Hominem Salvator - Christi Iesus - Iesus Christi) This is a rare early gothic iron wafer, the communion wafer is rectangular (not round with cross inside like 17 th – 19 th examples) Great condition with some rust. Measures 93 cm . Cast heavy iron, Private collection from castle/church
