The thinness and three sided design of the blade allowed it to easily slip through chain mail and the gaps in plate armor. In the latter Renaissance period the Stiletto was adopted by assassins. Due it size the Stiletto could be easily concealed under a cloak or in a sleeve. The Assassin could walk up to his victim in broad daylight, in a crowd, and assassinate the target before anyone knew that had happened.
