1609 Bertius Map - 'Hungaria' Petrus Bertius was a professor of mathematics and librarian at Leyden University in Holland but is known for his miniature world atlas 'Tabularum geographicarum contractarum' which contained two different sets of maps. This map comes from the 'Tabularum...' published by Cornelius Claesz in Amsterdam in 1609. This lovely map of Hungary has fine detail showing dozens of towns and cities including Buda, Pest, Gran, Temesvar, Posega, and Wardeyn; and illustrations of rivers, lakes, hills, and forests. The map has a scale of distance and a title cartouche. The map measures 4.5" by 3.5", has later outline hand colouring, and is in good condition. The map is guaranteed to be over 390 years old.
