The title page reads in part : "Horatii Tursellini Rom. e' Soc. Iesu. Historiae Lauretanae Libri Quinque. Accessit geminus index...Editio ultima. Coloniae Agrippinae Apud Petrum Hemmingium, sub signo Cuniculi, Anno M.DC.XXII." [Published in Köln by Henning in 1622.]Text in Latin. It is thick 16mo (5 X 3 inches); hardcover; full leather on boards; gilt stamped stars & borders on boards; spine cover chipped away with many flaking layers of various repairs made over the last three centuries; front & rear hinges cracked but boards still attached; boards well worn & rubbed; clasps missing ; **Ex-library - two ex-libris library book-plates inside front cover + ink stamp on title page + library shelf number label, pencil notes & ink stamp on verso of title page + library card holder inside rear board**; previous owner's name in ink on title page & front end-paper; foxing spots & age toning throughout; small damp stain in lower fore-edge corner of last three pages; text block tight; xx + 887 pages + x (index). Volume divided into 5 books (Liber I-V) complete. Illustrated with fine copperplate engraving showing Virgin & Child astride a Church which is being held aloft by angels over a landscape with a walled city, shepherds in a field and sailing ships at sea.
