A Chronicle of the Kings of England Baker R London - 1665 London: Printed by E. Cotes, 1665. Fourth edition. Folio, raised bands. Sir Richard Baker [1568-1645] religious and historical writer. Bakers education was completed with a foreign tour which extended as far as Poland. He served as an M.P. and was knighted by James I. Baker did not begin his literary career until quite late in his life, publishing his first work at age 68. Baker wrote a number of religious works but his chief work was this "Chronicle." First published in 1643, it was described by the author as "being collected with so great care and diligence, that if all other of our chronicles were lost, this only, would be sufficient to inform posterity of all passages memorable, or worthy to be known."
