Murphy beds have been around for a long time. They were actually around in the early 1880s. They used to be called a hide away bed and around the turn of the century a man by the name of Murphy patented the rights around the year 1890. This particular bed is much more unusual than normal. Murphy beds were made to look like another style of furniture as it was a hidden bed in a room. This one looks almost like a fireplace mantle with the pillars and beveled glass mirror which has a few streaks in the silver from being worn and aged. We can redo the mirror to be perfect if winning bidder desires.. This complete bed has been all professionally stripped, sanded, re-glued, stained and refinished in a dark oak stain finish with multiple coats of satin sheen lacquer that pulls out the gorgeous grains of this beautiful bed. The outside dimensions are 54 inches wide, 19 inches deep and approximately 81 inches high. The height of the bed case itself is 51 inches high. The mirror back is 30 inches high.
