Our engraving here is from the first edition of 1690. The artist for most of the prints was the Mennonite mystic Jan Luyken (Luiken, Luycken), one of the three premier Dutch book illustrators of his day. He is famous for his artistic studies of craftsmen at work. We see this interest in many of the engravings from this book. Text in Dutch. The engravings are on a medium weight, hand-made paper.
