VERY LARGE COLUMMELLA BEADS Hiwassee island tn 17 beads each measuring about 1 inch diameter The hiwassee river is one of the most beautiful places in north america, and was considered a sacred river by the cherokee. Hiwassee island is a well reknowned site that served as a processing center for the misssissippian marine shell trade, with a tremendous number of shell artifacts such as beads and gorgets and death masks being processed from marine whelk shells carried from the gulf coast. These beads are extremely well preserved and not chalky at all, and were excavated sometime around 1910 and are from the collection of Rocky Hall. Beads this size are extremely rare and I really hate to sell these as they are pretty much irreplacable. A great 100% authentic artifact. International buyers (other than Canada): Please note that tracking or insurance is required. I dont charge extra for shipping to international addresses, but insurance is not available to some places and tracking may require a private shipping carrier, which is really expensive. Please contact me before bidding so I may explain the situation.
