A superb antique engraving which was an illustration to "Reliquiae Antiquae Urbis Romae, quarum singulas Innocentio XI. Alexandro VIII. & Innocentio XII.." by Bonaventura Von & Michael Overbeek - see below. This is taken from the first edition published in Amsterdam by Joannes Crellius in 1708.The image, Plate b.50, Volume II is of the "Castellum Aquae Marciae" being the structure at the end of an aqueduct where the water was delivered to a basin and then disbursedGood condition printed on fine hand-laid paper - mild age toning to the edges - see scan.
