This is a wonderful, original document dated 1736, Lancaster, Massachusetts; where James Richardson of Lancaster, Massachusetts has sold to Benjamin Houghton of Lancaster a piece of land in Lancaster. Signed at bottom by James Richardson, Jonathan Houghton, Jonathan Houghton, Jr and Joseph Wilder on front, signed in back by Edward Pynchon as Registrar.Document is 8x13, folds, minor repairs at outer margins, else in overall good condition. Jonathan Houghton was born in 1703 at Lancaster, Massachusetts.He married Mary Houghton on 20 January 1725 at Lancaster, Massachusetts.Jonathan Houghton and Mary Houghton had 10 children. Jonathan Houghton died in 1740. Lieutenant in Company from Lancaster, Massachusetts, engaged in West Indian Campaign, 1739, 1740, died while on active duty in Jamaica.He was lieut. in Captain John Prescott's Company, which was sent out to aid Admiral Vernon's disastrous expe- dition against the Spanish West Indies, whence not more than fifty out of the five hundred from Massa- chusetts returnedCaptain Jonathan Houghton was born on 7 November 1737 at Lancaster, Massachusetts. At age 22 Captain Jonathan Houghton married Susannah Moor, age 26 on 24 November 1759 at Bolton, Massachusetts.
