1758 Bellin Map of PERU, ECUADOR, BOLIVIA * ORIGINAL ANTIQUE! Title : "PERU, ECUADOR, BOLIVIA" By Jacques Nicolas Bellin . 1758. Paris, France. Size : Sheet size of map is 10" x 17" or 25cm x 43cm. Description : This beautiful copper engraved map is by Jacques Nicolas Bellin. Bellin spent over fifty years at the French Hydrographic Service w he was appointed the first 'Ingenieur hydrographe de La Marine'. During his term of office t he was commissioned to carry out major surveys, first of the coasts of France and later of all the known coasts of the world. These tremendous undertakings resulted in the production of a very large number of sea charts of the highest quality which appeared in many editions with varying numbers of charts to the end of the century. He was appointed 'Hydrographer to the King' and was a member of the Royal Society in London. This map is engraved on thick hand made paper with nice deep impression from the copper plate.
