You are bidding on a very rare and 100% original - authentic - genuine 236 Year Old handcolored antique map of the above region from one of the most sought after atlases of the 18th centrury - Atlas Moderne ou collection de cartes sur toutes les parties du globe terrestre ar plusieurs auteurs. This famous atlas contains a compilation of the most up-to-date maps published at that time from the famous cartographers Rigobert Bonne, Jean Janvier, Rizzi Zannoni which are some of the great and most influential cartographers at that time. The maps from this atlas are know for their very detailed information and the beautiful and ornate decorative cartouches and orginal handcoloring and are thus some of the most sought after maps by collectors. Complete editions of this atlas sell for between $6,000 to $10,000 and the maps from this atlas sell for hundreds of dollars. It is becoming almost impossible to find a map like this from the 18th century. I am over 50 individual maps from the atlas, so please look at my other auction listings. I will be starting these at very low prices. I cannot stress enough how beautiful these maps are up close compared to the photos that you see. Note that the photos do not do the map justice. These are truly incredible maps to behold!! General Description: 1.Strikingly interesting and highly detailed map. The map has incredibly beautiful original handcoloring as issued in the atlas. It is outline handcolored by individual regions. The map depicts in great detail all of the geographical information known at the time the map was published. Depending on the map in the listing, note that many geographical details have changed since the map was published and were not accurate compared to today's modern maps!! Map symbols highlight individual towns, rivers, lakes, bays, harbors, islands, mountains, forests, roads and other important places as shown on the map in this listing. 2. The map is in excellent condition considering the age of the map. The overall size of the map sheet is approximately 20 inches by 15 inches. The map was printed at the time on a very heavy handlaid paper. You can actually see w the printing plate pressed into the paper!! T is a centrfold as issued. Please note that if you see a line or darkness through the center of the map that this is only the shadow of the fold line and is not in the map iteself. Also, some of the maps have some notes that were written in the margins by the original owner, but the notes do not affect the image of the map and once the map is professionally matted and framed will be unseen. 3. The map is a 100% orignal and genuine antique map. I will also send you a copy of the title page as proof of authenticity for your records. 4. Full retail prices of the maps from this atlas are in the hundreds and hundreds of dollars . The starting price for this map is far, far lower than the full retail price. These individual maps rarely come up fo auction and if they do then not at a low price like this. All of my maps are investment grade and collectible quality. The value of this original will only increase over time. Many people are now starting to offer cheap reproductions/copies.
