ORIGINAL DOCUMENT RELATED TO THE "VIEWING OF LANDS". Very good condition with folds, measuring 6" by 8 1/4". Expense account between Charles Bitters and Samuel Wallis for 21 days from October 2nd to the 22nd, 1792. They were viewing land along the waters of the Tunkhannock, Salt Lick and other Creeks. There is also a charge for three days working at the papers in Sunbury. A William Gray is also mentioned. This document was Signed by Samuel Wallis with his initials on April 20th, 1793.Interesting glimpse of how business was done in early America!This document is from a collection of papers relating to Samuel Wallis, a well known figure in Lycoming County. Wallis served as a land agent for the Holland Land Company, a group of Dutch capitalists that also advanced large sums of money to ROBERT MORRIS, one of the major financiers of the American Revolution and a signer of the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution. Wallis also worked with another agent for the Holland Land Company, JAMES WILSON, also a signer of the Declaration of Independence and one of the framers of the Constitution.
