1794 BILL FROM BOSTON TO SHIP OWNER & CAPTAIN EBENEZER DORR FOR 2 CASKS OF "OLD BOTTLED CYDER", ETC. FOR HIS SHIP "DISPATCH", WHICH SAILED TO THE NW PACIFIC COAST OF AMERICA TO TRADE FOR FURS WITH THE INDIANS, AND WHICH THEN SAILED TO CHINA AND TRADED FOR TEA, SILK, ETC. TO SELL BACK IN THE U.S. Measures approx. 5-7/8" x 4-3/4", and is dated at Boston, Mass., Oct. 18, 1794, from David Bradlee, to Ebenezer Dorr, "for Ship Dispatch", there are additional entries dated Oct. 22nd & 28th. The bill is for "2 Cask Old Bottled Cyder", and different quantities of additional barrels, as well as 1/2 dozen Madeira. The charges are in pounds, shillings & pence. Signed by D.W. Bradlee, acknowledging receipt of payment. On the back is docketing in the hand of Ebenezer Dorr, which includes: "D.W. Bradlee's Bill liquors". Ebenezer Dorr, (1739-1809), was a noted early China trader, who owned several ships (and sometimes captained them), which sailed to the NW Coast of America, traded with the Indians for furs (seal skins, etc), then sailed to China, where they traded the furs for tea, silk, etc., which were then brought back to the U.S. and sold, realizing huge profits. In 1775, Ebenezer Dorr was one of the 3 other men beside Paul Revere, who rode out from Boston to warn residents about the advancing British army (he was one of the "three countrymen" read more
